Workshops

Picture
Let's face it. The title "Workshops" informs us what is included in these sessions: work. These workshops are intended to inform and engage participants directly in professional and personal development. The intent behind each workshop is to enable and equip participants in areas considered vital to their own interests as professional project managers, leaders, or others simply interested in ongoing learning and development.

Getting Started: Microsoft Project 2016
Fundamentals for the Project Manager New to MS Project Professional

Picture
Date: Next session is targeted for Q2 2020
Duration: 7 contact hours
Location: Northern Virginia
Description:  This is an introductory session for the project manager or team member new to Microsoft Project. The workshop is designed to provide a foundational understanding of how a project is initiated and planned in accordance with the Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK Guide) published by the Project Management Institute. Then, building on that understanding, the user will create and develop their own plan using MS Project 2010.
Note: Attendees are responsible for having their own laptops and be prepared to load a trial version of the program if they plan to participate in a hands-on learning mode. Awareness, understanding, increased competency and confidence through hands-on use are the primary learning objectives.

Quarters 1&2 2020 and 2020 course calendar will be released December 15

"All in the Family"  (coming...)
Unique Look at Understanding (and Surviving) a Multiple Generational Work Space

Picture

Coming in Q4 2020

The project manager/leader in the second decade of the 21st century must think and act on a human awareness and understanding in the work place that is much more complex than what project managers faced even just a decade earlier. This workshop may be one of the most impacting and far-reaching learning initiatives in the career of the attendee. Those who engage in this seminar will never see, or operate in, their workplace/space quite the same way again. This will not be a "warmed over" set of HR directives but rather a fresh, even bold new appreciation of the human variability each project manager/leader must be able to navigate for project success.

Process Management:
Understanding, Framing, Taming, and Improving How We Work

Picture

Coming in 2020

Every so many years, it seems there is a fresh "new" discovery and emphasis on the importance of not just the "what" but the "how" work is engaged in the workplace. Those with a significant amount of experience over the past two or three  decades can usually point to several time periods where "the next great thing" in managing work was rolled out. They also know that other than new flashy adjective-laced titles (like "the new global 'zippity-doo-dah' method"), the core objectives of the efforts remained the same. And so did the reasons for success, ultimate decline, and eventual supplanting of each approach with the next. This session is designed to help the project manager learn from the past and present, and then be able to get back to the basics of managing the processes necessary for success.
